Our next Advent event will be a Penitential Service with Individual Confessions on 4 December 2018, at 7:00 pm.
It is open to all parishioners, it will however also be the moment of (first) reconciliation for First Communion and Confirmation candidates.
A Reminder About Confessions in Advent
"Confessing to a priest is a way of putting my life into the hands and heart of someone else, someone who in that moment acts in the name of Jesus. It’s a way to be real and authentic: we face the facts by looking at another person and not in the mirror" (Pope Francis).
Advent is the time to prepare for Christmas. On the first Sunday, it starts with looking at the end of the world, on the second and third Sunday, John the Baptist appears in the gospels, "proclaiming a baptism of repentance". Advent is therefor also a time for conversion and reconciliation, a time to receive and perhaps rediscover the sacrament of Confession. Throughout the city, there are many opportunities to go to Confession, especially at the two Basilicas, but also in regular parishes (see https://catholicottawa.ca/confession-times).
During Advent, there are extra Confession times on Sundays 8:30-9:00 am and 10:00-10:30 am, in addition to our regular Confession times Mon-Sat 8:45-8:55 am and Sat 4:30-4:55 pm.
