Elena M. Worlinsky - Ghormley

Mission & Discipleship Director

My Story

Born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania in the Byzantine rite tradition, I had a deepening in my faith when I was 18 through the words and witness of a parish priest. My understanding and love of the Catholic faith grew immensely when I studied Catechetics and Theology at Franciscan University in Steubenville (OH).

After finishing my undergrad, I moved to NYC to put into practice my passion for mission through teaching high school Theology and in Campus Ministry. Realizing how human formation was intertwined with spiritual growth, my experiences motivated me to pursue my graduate studies in Catholic Psychology from Divine Mercy University. During my time working and volunteering in the Archdiocese of New York, I served over three hundred retreats, mission trips, and formation events for youth and young adults.

After twelve years serving the Church in Manhattan and the Bronx, I relocated with my husband to Ottawa. Here, I am working at St George's where I hope I can use my experience, gifts, and education to better serve the parish and the Church as Mission and Discipleship Director.
