Music and song enhances the solemnity of our liturgies and raises our hearts and voices to God. As stated by Pope Benedict XVI. “Sacred music, with its own great tradition, can and does have a relevant task of assisting in the rediscovery of God, a return to the Christian message and the mysteries of the faith”.

At St. George’s Parish we are blessed to have two very different choirs. Click below to read more and listen to some audioclips to see which style would be the perfect addition to your Mass and your encounter with Christ.

CONTEMPORARY CHOIR

Our Contemporary Choir sings during the Sunday 10:30 am Mass. Our Members volunteer their time, talent and passion for singing.

This choir is a group of dedicated parishioners joined together by their love for Christ and their desire to bring the light of Christ into Mass and amplify His presence through singing.

Mass is where we foster our relationship with God and with each other. Our Mass is strengthened by the overflowing wellspring of love for Christ that our choir brings – it fills us up and brings us together as a community.

We are called to evangelize through sacred music because song nurtures our prayers and deepens our relationship with God and each other. Music includes traditional and contemporary anthems and hymns accompanied by acoustic guitar. The singing is predominantly in unison and the parts of the Mass are sung in English.

Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays at 7pm and all ages are welcome. For further information or to join the contemporary choir please contact Kristen Klein at kristenklein89@gmail.com.

CHANT MASS

Our Chant Mass Choir sings during the Sunday 9:00 am Mass. Our Members volunteer their time and talent under the direction of Tim Kennedy.

The Christian faithful who come together as one in expectation of the Lord’s coming are instructed by the Apostle Paul to sing together Psalms, hymns, and spiritual canticles. Singing is the sign of the heart’s joy thus, according to the ancient proverb, “Whoever sings well prays twice over.”

The chant of the Roman Rite represents the very voice of the Faith, a true prayer in song, one that draws all generations of Catholics together in the Mass.

Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays at 7pm and all ages are welcome. If you would like to join our Chant Mass choir please contact Tim Kennedy at tjkenned3@gmail.com.

FUNERAL CHOIR

The Funeral Choir is available to provide music for funerals that are held within our parish. This choir is another way the parish shows support for our families during this emotional and stressful time. Please note that most funerals take place during the week as such it is a wonderful ministry for people that are retired or working from home and have schedule flexibility during the day.

Families are too stricken with grief to sing so sharing with them your voice will provide some inspiration and hope to an otherwise heavy time. For further information please contact Donna Barry.
